Save you money:
How can spending more on a home inspection save you money?
Purchasing a home:
The home inspector with less experience will charge less. The less money you spend for a home inspection is the best indication of the lack of experience the inspector has. The inexperienced inspector will not know of the issues that will cost you far more money than the inspection did after you moved in.
HUD.GOV states:
“Costs vary dramatically, depending on the region, size and age of the house, scope of services and other factors. A typical range might be $300-$500, but consider the value of the home inspection in terms of the investment being made.”
4 Point Insurance Inspections:
A cheap 4 point insurance inspection could cost you thousands of dollars in unnecessary upgrades or insurance cancellation as a result of an inexperienced Home Inspector. If you are paying less than $150 - you have an inexperienced Inspector.
Your insurance company is requiring the four point inspection because it is an older home that are known to have issues. An inexperienced home inspector may misinterpret what he sees and that could cause your policy be canceled or cause you to pay for unnecessary upgrades.
Home Inspector license:
A Home Inspector license does not equal experience.
